quitclaim question

Posted on: 20th Jun, 2011 12:29 pm
hi, i went threw a divorce and the house was under my ex husbands name he is signing the house over to me . i got a quitclaim deed my question is does he have to signe it in the presence of the notary or can he signe it and i take it to a public notary?
Welcome,

Anything that must be notarized must be signed in the presence of a notary. The notary is acknowledging that they witnessed the signature. Without a notary, there would be no way to prove who actually signed a document.
