Validity of a QC deed

i was incarcerated for 3 years, during that time my ex boyfriend of 17 years presented a quick claim deed for me to sign. he told me i needed to sign that so he could refinance the house. not knowing what it really was and feeling very vulnerable i signed it and had it notarized. how can i tell if this was a valid deed, and why does my home that he and i shared at one time, still show me as an owner on my credit report. the deed wasnt specific on what it was representing, it seemed really generic and not issued from an attorney. how do i know if it is valid?
a quit claim deed is used to add or remove interested parties to title of the home. it will not affect your rights to the loan, and your repayment obligations on the mortgage. have you contacted the bf? what is his intentions? was he trying to refinance or sell the home from under you? being off title, you signed off as ownership of the property, but you are still liable for the mortgage payments. call the bf and go from there.
