Hello

Posted on: 20th Jul, 2011 08:04 pm
My ex cheated on me for three years before I found out on Valentines Day, and I was so tired of all his lies, he wouldn't help me keep things going, we were past due on our bills, and I was working two jobs, while he set and did nothing until I got home from work, then he was up ready to go out the door so he could be with his older women in his life. I came to find out that the money he wanted me to sign a note to get a 2nd mortgage on, he used to take his Itch to the Maggie Valley and where ever, anyway, we still own a house together, b/c I couldn't afford to pay anything else, and I had given him everything, except the house, and now he wants to sell it out from under me, He has only paid on the house for about 14,000.00, since he and I were divorced in 2002, He has never paid any property tax on the house and non of the Property Insurance of our investment. I have remarried, and we need help to find a great attorney that will help me keep what I have worked so hard to keep. I haven't worked in over two years, I have hurt my back twice and my left hand isn't in the best shape, and my nerves aren't that good either in worrying what crap can he do to me yet once again and get away with everything, Please help me.
Losing my mind.
Hi Trishadiane,

If your ex has his name mentioned on the property deed, then he will be considered as one of the owners of the property. He can ask you to sell off the property and you may have to give him half of the sale proceeds. However, he may not be able to force you sell off the property.

Thanks

Well, that was encouraging, huh?

Trishadiane, you definitely need to get the ear of a good lawyer who can help you out in this situation.

I need to ask what this reference - "Maggie Valley" - is. It's interesting to say the least.

In order for him to attempt to sell the property, he'd have to get you in court and have a judge agree that it's the thing to do. Otherwise, the two of you must agree (I'm assuming that you own the home jointly).
