quitclaim deed

Posted on: 15th Nov, 2013 07:56 am
My mom and dad quitclaimed a house to me and they have both now passed away. My sister is the trustee of their estate and the deed has been recorded in my name. When do I take legal ownership of the property? The day after they passed away or after the new deed is recorded? The house is rented and I have not received any proceeds from this house yet and my dad died in 2006 and my mom just recently passed on Sept. 5, 2013.
Hi Pam,

Once the new deed is recorded, you will be considered the owner of the property. This will help you claim ownership of the property and claim the rental proceeds.

Thanks
