Six years ago i took my name of the house deed and transferred my interest to my boyfriend. I now want to add my name back on the deed. Can someone tell my how i can do this myself (if possible) without the assistance of lawyers, etc... When i took my name off the deed i did not go to a lawyer, i just went to a notary to notarize the deed and then i took it down to the courthouse myself. Since it was six years ago there may be steps i'm forgetting?.
BTW, i live in California.
Thanks soo much in advance for your help!

If it were me, I would ocntact a local title company to prepare the title and record it. This ensures that it will be done correctly and a title company is generally cheaper than an attorney. Some title companies will charge as little as 50.00 to prepare this for you.
can i change my deeds without an attorney in ga. or fla.
help
Hi llily,
If you want to add or remove someone from the deed, you will have to sign a new deed for that. Yes, you can sign a new deed all by yourself. You will also get the deed forms online. But remember to notarize and record it at the county recorder's office. However, it is always safe to take the help of an attorney as he/she will help you in understanding the terms and conditions of the deed.
Thanks.
