Hello,
My girlfriend purchased a house in NY on 2011. In 2012, she refinanced the mortgage and added my name as the co-singer and i have been paying half of the mortgage since then. Now she is going to add my name to the deed; my real estate attorney told me that i need to pay half of the mortgage tax because we are not married. Is it ture?
Thank you!

You are now a co-signer in the deed. So now in case your girlfriend defaults, you will be responsible for paying the unpaid mortgages as well as mortgage taxes.
Hi John,
This is something which a tax adviser will be able to better tell you. I will suggest you to immediately contact a tax adviser and take his opinion in this regard.
Thanks
