We are living in a house owned my my wifes parents. We want to add their daughter/my wife to the title of the house. What documents/procedures do I need to do? We still want the parents to be on the title, we just want to add the daughter.
Thanks.
Thanks.
hi darktiger,
the parents can sign a quit claim deed and add your wife's name to the property deed. they can contact a real estate attorney and get the quit claim deed drafted from him. the parents will have to write their names as the grantor of the property whereas their names as well as your wife's name will be mentioned as the grantee to the property.

Your wifs name can be added to the house by signing a quit claim deed. This means, a legal document that will only transfer the granters share of interest to the grantee, but not the rights. Your wife would become a shareholder in the title of the property, but that does not mean the rights have also been warranted. Your father and mother-in-laws are still the legal owners of their property.
