How do I transfer ownership/deed of lot to me if its in my grandmothers name ?..I am the administrator of my mothers estate. She was assumed owner of this lot and paying taxes but it was never transferred in her name. The lot is under my deceased grandmothers name. What do I need to do to get the deed transferred to me.
Hi tsibler!
Your mother can file an Affidavit of Heirship at the County Recorder's Office and get the property of your grandmother transferred to her name. Once this is done, you can sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property in your name. Along with this, you can also sign a warranty deed to be on the safer side.
