How to get some one off of a title

Posted on: 27th Nov, 2007 07:24 pm
I am buying my brother out of our land and was wondering what is the best way to get his name off of the property? He is taking my dad land and I am taking the one my brother and I own together. We live in the state of Minnesota.
hi,

you may use a quit claim deed to take off your brother's name from the title. your brother will have to sign the document as the grantor with your name as the grantee.

Hi lgustavson,

Welcome to this forum.

I agree with Michel that to transfer the deed to your name you can use a quit claim deed. Make sure to notarized and record the deed in the county recorder's office. There is an article regarding quitclaim deed, you can check it out- http://www.mortgagefit.com/quitclaim-deed.html

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Larry
