WE LIVE IN TX....I AM TRYING TO PURCHASE THE HOME I NOW LIVE IN... FROM MY MOTHER. SHE HAS SINCE MOVED OUT AND LIVES IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT RESIDENCE WITH HER HUSBAND ...THE PROBLEM IS A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE CLOSING...MY MOM FREAKED BECAUSE HER HUSBAND WANTED THE PROCEEDS TOO WHEN (HE NEVER PAID A DIME ON THE HOME SHE IS SELLING TO ME) SO SHE WROTE A LETTER TO THE TITLE COMPANY BASICALLY SAYING THAT SHE HAD SEPERATED FROM HER HUSBAND AND SHE STILL LIVED WITH ME AND WOULD CONTINUE TO LIVE WITH ME TILL SHE GOT THE $ FROM THE CLOSING....EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDNT LIVE WITH ME AT ALL ANYMORE....RIGHT AFTER SHE WROTE THAT LETTER THEY MADE UP AND SHE NEVER LEFT THEIR NEW HOUSE.....BUT NOW THE TITLE COMPANY HAS DENIED THE PURCHASE OF THE HOME......TWICE...ALL BECAUSE NOW THEY DO NOT BELIEVE HER...NO MATTER WHAT WE SAY THEY DO NOT BELIEVE US....THIS IS NOT FAIR THAT THEY WILL NOT TAKE ANY OTHER TYPE OF PROOF...WHAT CAN WE DO...DO I HAVE TO WAIT AND START OVER IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS...DO I GIVE UP FOR GOOD....HER DL IS AT THE NEW ADDRESS....SHE FILED TAXES AT THE NEW ADD....UGH...IM SO FRUSTRATED.
Starting over seems to be the correct thought, but is it possible for you to discuss this with a different title company and see if they'll accommodate your request? I can't say I would blame the old company for not believing what your Mom said, since she hadn't told the truth to begin with.
