i live in dakota county mn. i was wondering if after a quit claim deed has been filed can you go down to the court house and get both a copy of the deed before it was filed and also a copy of the deed after it was filed? getting a copy of the deed before it was filed is what is important to me...
Hi carolann,
If the deed has been already recorded at the county recorder's office, then it will be quite difficult for you to get a copy of the deed prior to it's recording. Nevertheless, you can contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this matter.
Thanks

Welcome carolann,
As far as I know, you won't be able to get the copy of the deed before it was filed. You can get the property deed which has been filed at the county recorder's office.
