My father wants to remove his name from the deed and only wants to leave my mothers name on it. I will like to know how much will it cost him to remove his name?
if they don't have a mortgage on the house, title can be changed via a quit claim deed. a local title or escrow company can help with the paperwork, and i'd expect to pay them $100.00 for their services. then you'll have to get it recorded, so they'll be a small fee for that purpose too.
i'm wondering why you father would want to do that ...

i'd guess he loves his wife dearly, raymond; and he may also have some sort of business interests that could cause a ruckus if creditors had to place a lien on the home.
>>i'd guess he loves his wife dearly
But then he'd have problems if she Passed first, and I'm sure his wife wouldn't want that.
>>and he may also have some sort of business interests that could cause a ruckus
Sounds more plausible.

i agree...that's the more likely situation. we've seen it over the years, after all. if you're in business for yourself and the business fails, it is definitely worthwhile not to have other assets that can be attached.
