My mom died without a will and owns a small piece of property in Texas (I am out of state). I would like to have this transferred into my name since I will be continuing to pay taxes and bills regarding the property. It is just land and not worth a lot of money, but has been in the family for years. How would I go about transferring the property into my name. Her estate is not worth probating because it would cost more in legal fees than the property is worth. I am an only child.
Hi jenniferderek!
Welcome to forums!
You will have to file an Affidavit of Heirship in the county recorder's office where the property is located. This will help you to transfer the property in your name.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
