dead grandfather taken off of deed

my grandfather died about four years ago. i was told by my mother that grandmother who just died took grandfather name off the deed to the house... there is no mortgage.... how can i check this, because grandmother died without a will, but grandfather had a will that stated after grandmother died the estate would be split with my mother and I,,,,,
