How do I transfer my deceased mothers house into my name?

Posted on: 10th Jul, 2009 08:29 am
My mom passed away in September of 2008. She left without a will and a credit equity loan of $40,000 on the home, which I live in. What are the necessary steps to get the home transfered into my name. I have been paying the loan and property taxes. Can I get insurance without my name being on the title?
I suggest you contact a probate attorney.

I suggest that you should contact to layer. You must know that proses. Than you will go to that proses and than you transfer deceased mother house into your name.

Hi d_cheryl_bass,

As your mother has left a will, it needs to be probated first. Once the probate is complete, you'll have to record the will at the county recorder's office and transfer the property in your name. You cannot get insurance if your name is not on the property deed.

Thanks
