How to deed land?

Posted on: 22nd Sep, 2010 11:21 am
Eight acres left behind by two deceased parents. No valid will filed. Six sixblings, only two have interest in acreage and are the only two that have paid land taxes since mom died in 2004. Each of the two want four acres. How can we get this deeded?

Hi diannedavis,

All the heirs need to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in their name. After this is done, the heirs should contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in dividing the property amongst themselves.
