my father pasted away 2 years ago, and my mother would like to remove his name from the house deed and add my brothers names. how will she go about the process?
Hi jsweetiec!
Welcome to forums!
Your mother will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in her name. Once the property is in her name, she can sign a quit claim deed and add your brother to the property. This will make him one of the owners of the property.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

hi sussane,
thanks for the reply. what if my mom is already on the deed as one of the owners. there are 3 names on the deed right now, my mom, dad, and my aunt. so does my mom still need to get heirship or she can just do the quit claim deed?

Hi jsweetiec,
In order to remove your deceased father's name from the property deed, your mother needs to file an affidavit of heirship. Then she can add your brother to the property by signing a quit claim deed.
Thanks
