How long does my ex have to pay me after I sign

Posted on: 24th May, 2010 04:45 pm
Hi, How long does my ex-girlfriend have to pay me for my half of the property after I sign and return this to her lawyer ? I emailed the lawyer three times and he has not responded to my question . If I sign and return without a answer from them and they do not pay me would I have to take them to court ? They have put the selling price on the deed they sent me . Thank-you for your help.
Hi gadjits!

Welcome to forums!

Once your ex-girlfriend sells off the property, she will have to pay you the amount as mentioned in your divorce decree. If she does not do so, then you can take her to the court. You will be able to file a lawsuit against her.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

She is keeping the property we were never married . She just wants me off the the deed . The amount is on the tax paperwork only . I do not want to sign and have her not pay . I thought by asking the lawyer if the money would be wired to my bank within one business day of getting the signed paperwork back was fair . Now he isn't respond to my emails I've sent three . I do not trust her of her lawyer and I think this might be a trick to get me to sign and not get paid for my half interest .

Hi,

The best suggestion I can give you is consult with good attorney and send legal notice to your ex-girlfriend's lawyer. As the lawyer is not responding to your emails do not sign any documents related to your property. Without your signature your ex-girlfriend cannot sale the property.
Hope this will help you.

Hi, Thank you yes I already told them I would not sign anything until I got a answer . If I do not hear from the lawyer tomorrow I will write in red marker void in big letter across ever page and mail it back . I will also tell them I want a appraisal on the property and I want half of that not what they are offering . I was just accepting their offer to get this over with so I do not have to deal with them ever again .
