What to do after a Quit Claim Deed

Posted on: 22nd Feb, 2008 08:06 am
my ex has signed the quit claim deed over to me and it has been filed with the county. is there anything i need to do know? i received a homestead exemption application - can i fill that out now. what other steps do i need to do if any?
Hi Anna,

Welcome to the forum.

If your quitclaim deed is notarized and recorded in the county recorder office, it is all right.

Regarding Homestead Exemption, is it your primary residence?

Thanks,
Larry

You can file for homestead exemption on the house as the owner recorded through quit claim deed.
