when my grandfather passed away 4 years ago my grandmother had my aunt (her daughter) added to the deed, it is a "fee simple" deed. Since then my aunt and my grandmother had a falling out, they don't get along and my grandmother would like my aunt taken off the deed. My aunt does not want to be taken off the deed. Is there anything my grandmother can do? If she can't get my aunt off the deed, can she leave her part of the deed to one of her other children so that the entire property is not left to just my aunt who has vengeful actions planned?
Welcome amymsky,
Your grandmother cannot do anything to remove your aunt from the property deed. Your aunt needs to sign a deed and transfer the property to your grandmother and remove herself from the deed. However, your grandmother can definitely leave her share of the property to her other children. Either she can transfer the property to the other children by signing a deed or she can draft a will and declare them as the beneficiary to her share of the property.
