What do I need to file to keep my ex from having any claims

Posted on: 19th Sep, 2010 08:45 pm
I was awarded our home and I need to know what form I need to file to keep my ex from having any claim to our home I got in the divorce. I was told I needed to file a warranty deed, but I don't know if I can get a form for that online or if I should let my attorney handle it.
Hi billiegibbs,

If the property is free and clear, then you can ask your ex to sign a warranty deed in order to get the property transferred in your name. Your attorney will be the best to handle the whole matter.

Thanks

Yes, indeed, ask for your attorney's assistance. That should have been something you would have discussed during the divorce proceedings, frankly.
