Hello, I wanted to know how to get deed or title to a home that belonged to my great grandmother. The home is still under her name but she past away in the eighties now the home belongs to her eight children they all are willing to sign the home over to me, because I pay the taxes, but they all live in different states and cannot come to Texas to sign in front of a notary. How do I get this done?
Hi Christophercorral,
The children will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office where the property is located. Once this is done, then they can transfer the property to you by using a quitclaim deed.

As far as i understand a quitclaim deed must be signed in the presence of a notary and this is not possible because all the heirs live in other states and cannot return for this. I am trying to find a way around this.
Welcome back Christophercorral,
The heirs will have to come down to the state where the property is located and sign the deed. However, you can take the help of a real estate attorney and he might help you in this regard.

I agree with most of your points, but some need to be discussed further, I will hold a small talk with my buddies and maybe I will look for you some advice shortly.
