property deed

i bought a house from my uncle using a notarized contract we made. he and his wife are listed on the property, they have since divorced and he has died, how do i go about gettiing my deed for the property, i do not know the particulars of his divorce from his wife but she stated to me , she has nothing to do with the sale.
we are in virginia

Hi pgaddy,

You've mentioned that you bought the house from your uncle using a notarized contract. Didn't you get the property deed when you filed the property deed at the county recorder's office? I would suggest you to contact the county recorder's office and get the copy of the property deed.

no i did not, been young and dumb about the process i just paid monthly payments to him, he divorced his wife, and developed alzheimer's not remember much of anything rapidly. his wife stated she would give me the quit claim deed without trouble , but i needed to know what if she changed her mind.

As James has suggested in his post, you can get hold of a duplicate copy of the property deed from the county recorder's office.
