Hi There,
My fiance just passed away unexpectedly, and his house was transferred to me several months back. I heard that if I sell his house, I have to pay tax about 50% since I received the house as a gift from him? Is that right? Thank you so much for your time and your consideration!
Best Regards,
Cindy Nguyen

Hi CNguyen,
As far as I know, the person who is gifting the property to you will be liable for paying the gift taxes. As your fiancé is deceased, I don't think you'll be liable for paying the gift taxes. You should contact a real estate attorney and take his suggestions in this matter.
