Life estate grantor

[font=Georgia:ce0a5d85ff]My mother has recently been put in the nursing home. She is the life estate grantor. Myself and my two siblings are grantees on the deed. Will the nursing home take her social security to keep her in the nursing home? Also, are the grantees responsible for paying for the upkeep (utilities, etc.) of her home since we are grantees? Hi jalynn,

Since you are the grantees, you are responsible for paying for the upkeep. As for the question whether the nursing home can take her social security, well, as far as I know social security cannot be garnished.
