My uncle left a property in my mother's name. He stated in his will that
upon her death the property should be left to his heirs. Our family lived in this home for over 50 years. My father paid all the taxes and repairs for the house. My mother passed away several years ago and my 83 year old father still lives in the home. The heirs (Sister-N -Law and Nephew) seem to think that since my mother is deceased, they now have a right to sell the home. The property is in North Carolina. Does my father have any rights to decide what to do with the home?

Hi R. J,
If your uncle's will states that the property should be transferred to his heirs after your mother's death, then your father does not have any right to the property. However, you can negotiate with your sister in law and nephew so that they allow your father to live in that property.
