Homestead and the property taxes.

Posted on: 10th Nov, 2008 10:24 am
:) hi!!! i own a house which i already claimed homestead exeption. now, i also own a condo where my parents live. they do not own anything. it is under my name and my wife's only. if i add their names to the condo warranty deed, can they apply for homestead exeption since this condo is their permanent home?? is this a quit claim deed or not since i keep my name on the warranty deed, or should i eliminate my name and just leave theirs?? i am ver confused and i really need a break with the property taxes. i pay, believe or not, the same amount of taxes for the house where i live with my wife and for the condo where my parents live. please, advice.
Hi javier,

If your parents can prove that the condo is your primary residence, then they can easily get a homestead. I don't think your name on the property deed will be a problem as you already have a homestead property and will not be considered for another one.

Thanks
