Homestead exemption

Posted on: 21st Sep, 2010 06:22 pm
My son bought a house for me whilst I was in Australia. As it is not his primary residence anymore the homestead exemption taxes are on the monthly payment and it is nearly $1300.00 a month. We want to add his stepfather and I to the mortgage/title so we can be recognized as owners and therefore file for homestead exemptions. What can you suggest?
I appreciate your time and assistance.

Hi Cerylia!

Welcome to forums!

You can ask your son to sign a quit claim deed and add your name to the property deed thereby making you the owners of the property. If this becomes your primary property, then you will be able to claim homestead exemptions.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

You are awesome. Thank you SO much. We will get started on it before this mortgage payment finishes eating our lunch.
