My mother in law lives in a house that is going to be sold in an auction since she got behind on her taxes. My husband and I are willing to pay the taxes if she puts the house under our name..(In case she doesn't pay). The only thing is her husband which is my husbands stepdad passed away and the person he bought the house from name is still on the deed. What should I do? Please help?
Hi lovely,

You should contact the person from whom your husband's stepdad purchased the property and get the property transferred in your husband's name. Once he/she does so, then you can pay the taxes and save the property. If there is a mortgage on the property, then your husband can refinance it as well.
