deed to house

Posted on: 04th Sep, 2009 01:26 pm
I sold my home to my father years ago and I am unsure if I am on the deed. I was told I am and I get 50% of the house after he dies and is sold. How can I find out and what does my name being on the deed mean legally? My family is getting in the middle now and I just want to know my legal rights if my name is on the deed with a clause that I am entitled to 50%.

Thanks
Hi susan,

Welcome to our forum.

If you sold your house to your father, that means you puts his name on property. Now he is legal owner of property & you has not any rights on sold property. If your father left house to your & your family, then you have few rights on property.

Thanks & Regards.

Hi susan,

Welcome to our forum.

there are 2 possiblities
you have signed deed & your name & your father name was mentioned as a grantee. in this case what you are saying is correct.

if your name was not mentioed as grantee, you do not have any legal right.
