My friend inherited the house she currently lived in with her mother from her mother. There is a $900 credit card lien against it that appeared when it was run in the newspaper she had died. The credit card is now threatening to make my friend sell the house as she does not have the $900 to pay the credit card. There was not even enough in the estate to pay the funeral home bills. Does my friend have to sell?
Hi WVfriend,
This is something which your friend needs to clarify from a real estate attorney. However, it is true that the credit card company has the rights to recover the debts from the property of your friend's mother.
Thanks

Hi WVfriend!
Welcome to forums!
If the property is in your friend's mother's name, then she may have to sell off the property in order to pay off the credit card debt of her mother.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
