Is is too late for a Quit Claim Deed?

Posted on: 28th Apr, 2011 05:54 am
I was divorced three years ago and the house was awarded to me, but a quick claim deed was never done. I put my house up for sale and the realtor discovered that there are liens in my ex-husbands name that have now been put against my home. What should I do? I feel that I need to protect myself, but it seems as if it's too late. I confronted my ex-husband about this, but he states that this is my problem and that there weren't any liens on the home prior to the divorce.
Hi Guest!

Welcome to forums!

If you're responsible for the liens, then you need to pay it off in order to get the property free and clear. Unless the property is free and clear, you won't be able to sell it off. You should have a word with your real estate attorney and take his opinion in this matter.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
