Could someone tell me who would be responsible for letting those know if they are listed in a will? I was never contacted in regards to my grandfathers will as he lived in Florida and I live in Ky. Some of my family on my grandfathers side knew how to contact me but never did. There was no attorneys name on his will just three witnesses. My grandfather had plenty of money and had already stipulated for his burial expenses to come out first and then listed shares to give to other relatives. He passed away in 2001 and if I hadn't sent for copies of his will, I would not have known that I was in his will. Never have heard a thing from nobody. I'm very upset over this whole thing. Thats why I wanted to know if this is right or if someone would be responsible for contacting me and would the courthouse have any further information they coul;d give me. Thanks.
Typically the witnesses and the attorney should attempt to reach you. Or a trust manager.
Hi Sjr,
Welcome to forums.
Your dad's attorney should contact you. Or, the witnesses should let you know about it. But more accurately, the attorney who drafted the Will should contact you.
Thanks

There was no attorneys name on my grandfathers will. I called the courthouse and was told the will was bought in to be filed and has not been probated. As far as she knows at the courthouse the will hasn't been opened. I'm assuming because my Aunt is still living and my grandfather left her in charge of his will but she's in her 90's and being taken care of by my Uncle who cannot stand me and just hoping there's no way he can have my Aunt change what was in my grandfathers will.
Well Sjr,
I feel it's time you talk to an attorney and discuss the issue. If chances are that your uncle may influence your aunt and get away with the property, then you need to take steps to prevent it.
