Hi My mother has been in a nursing home for going on 8 years with altzheimers. My Father lives at home and he is having dementia problems and considering having him put in the nursing home also. They own a home and I am power of Attorney for the both of them. There was not a 5 yr prior sigining of the home. Medicaid will take it all is that correct, and any thing else that they have? Who is responsible for selling the house or is it automatically deeded over? I live in Tennessee.
Hi macookers!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I can understand your situation, Medicaid will be able to take the property in order to recover their charges. As far as I know, they won't come after anything else. Your parents may have to surrender the property to Medicaid.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hi macookers,

I will suggest you to contact an attorney well versed with the Medicaid laws of your state and take his opinion in this regard.

Thanks
