Hi dee,
There is no fixed location where the serial number or the VIN number of the mobile home can be found. It could be found at various locations on the mobile home. It could be on a plate close to the front or back door, inside the home in the kitchen or utility cabinet, underneath the mobile home, etc. In case, you are not able to locate the VIN number, you can contact the DMV office and check the title and ownership status of the property.
If you have been living in a property for a certain period of time as specified in your state laws, you can claim ownership through adverse possession. If you can prove that you have lived in and maintained the property for so many years and there is no one else to claim ownership, the court can issue a title in your name. However, you need to talk to a lawyer to check if an adverse possession is applicable in your situation.

Hi dee_bo_starr,
The serial number of the mobile home will be either stamped into the foremost cross member of each section under the home or it'll be printed on the Data Plate. Check out those two places in order to find out the serial number of your home. You can then contact the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in order to get a duplicate copy of the property deed.
As far as adverse possession is concerned, you can check out the given page:
