i purchased a mobile home without title(unknowingly). now i find that theres a lien on the home from the previous owner. the mobile home was abandoned for 3 years before i got it but was never filed as such. i cant get the yearly tag without the title and there is a warrant pending for failure to pay citation for no tag. the owner of the property who sold it to the man i bought it from has recently died . what do i do to get this title? ive lived it it for 18 months and have completely remodeled it. im not interested in moving.
You will have to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and record the deed in order to get the title of the property. As far as the lien is considered, you will have to ask the seller to pay it off. It would have been better if you would have asked the seller to pay it off at the time you purchased the property.
is the department of motor vehicles come into picture in this scenario?
hello???
the dmv said there is nothing they can do.
i own the land its on. i had it moved here.
i meant the owner of the land the mobile home was orginally on died, and the man i bought it from assumed he had filed it abandoned.
Hi greysky,
I would suggest you to contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this issue. He will be the best person to let you know as to how you would receive the title for the property.
