I have a mobile home for sale by owner and found a buyer; however, they want to go through their realtor. Is transferring a mobile home as easy as signing over the title? Will the buyers need to pay sales tax if we simply transfer it or use the realtor?
Hi jeckenrode,
Mobile homes without any fixed foundation are not treated as real estate property. Transferring the mobile home title is almost like transferring the title to your car. You need to get in touch with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) regarding the transfer of your mobile home title. You will be required to pay a nominal fee for the transfer of title and sales tax as applicable in your state.
