Mobile Home title

Posted on: 18th Mar, 2012 10:48 am
Hi!
My husbands father purchased a mobile home for him and his brothers 8 years ago. They are now wanting to sell it. They bought the home off of a bill of sale, and later got the title from the orginal owner. The original owner never signed the title, and it was never transferred into my father-in-laws name. What do we do? Just try to sell the trailer off of the bill of sale again??
Hi leanne,

If the property was not transferred in your father-in-law's name, then your father-in-law does not have the rights to sell off the property. The original owner will have to transfer the property to your father-in-law and then he can sell off the property.

Hi leanne!

Welcome to forums!

You won't be able to sell off the property unless the property is in your name. Adonis is correct in saying so. Unless the property is in your father-in-law's name, he won't be considered as the owner of the property. So, he won't be able to sell off the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
