I paid my mobile home off in 2007 through land contract, however I never had my name transferred onto the title. Now my soon to be ex-husband went behind me and sold the trailor. Since it was never in my name according to lawyers all I have is proof of the payments I have paid and I can be entitled to half of what I paid for. The original owner went and signed the trailor over to the man my soon to be ex-husband sold the home to. Is this legal? Is there a way I can get my name put on that title or did I make a mistake by not doing it when I first paid it off? Any help would be appreciated
Hi gearlessam,

welcome to mortgage fit,

I suppose you are planning to get a divorce decree very soon.Make sure with consultation to your lawyer that you put this issue in your divorce decree.Otherwise you won't be entitled for the benefit of ownership of trailer because your name is not on the title.

Legally he is the current owner of the mobile home because his name is on the title, even though you have paid money for it as installments.

Only divorce decree can solve your problem.

Feel free 2 ask any further query if you have.

Actually the previous owner is on the title, neither him or I have our name on the title, my husband and the previous owner went ahead and signed it to the third party. SO in reality it is like we have never owned it even though i do have proof we paid for it, just never went and changed our names and put them on the title. Just wondering if this is legal

you will have to ask the previous owner to sign a quit claim deed in your favor and get the property transferred in your name. this will make you the owner of the property.
