my grandmother passed away and never transfered the deed to her home to anyone or wrote a will.
my mother is the only child and her father is deceased as well.
what do i need to do to get the deed in my mother's name?

Hi loyanl!
Welcome to forums!
As there's no will for your grandmother's property, your mother will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office. This will help her in transferring the property in her name. She will also have to submit your grandmother's death certificate at the county recorder's office.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Can I print a form online, have it notorized, and filed at the county clerk's office?
Hi loyanl,
You can take a print out of a sample quitclaim deed form, fill it up, notarize it and record it at the county recorder's office. However, it is always better to contact an attorney and ask him to review the deed as property deeds vary from state to state.
