My husbands parents financed a house for us. We (my husband and I live in this house and have been paying for it since day one) I was promised that I would be added to the deed, but they told me that they spoke to a lawyer and it could not be done.
Hi zenicc!
Welcome to forums!
Did the lawyer give them any reason as to why you could not be added to the property deed? I would suggest you and your family to speak to the lawyer and clarify the issue. As far as I know, your husband (if his name is on the deed) can sign a quit claim deed and add your name as one of the owners of the property.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

He is not on the deed. It is just his parents. I wanted them to add us both.
Welcome Guest,
You will have to ask his parents to sign a quit claim deed and add you and your husband to the property deed. This is because they are the owners of the property. Once they add your name to the property deed and record it at the county recorder's office, then you would become the owner of the property.
