My boyfriend put me on his condo as Life Estate maybe 3 years ago without speaking with me first about it. It was a very nice jester on his part, but it is not working for me. He is behind on taxes and now I am getting lawyers letters and registered mail. I have asked him to take me off and he has not done this as of yet. Can I do this myself or does he have to be the one to do it? Do I need to hire a lawyer to do this? I thought as long as he is alive he would be responsable for taxes, but I guess I was wrong because they are now asking me for the money. I would appriciate any help you can give. Would you please contact me through my email if that is possible
Thankyou

Hi cheryls,
If you want to remove your name from the property deed, then you would have to sign a quit claim deed in your boyfriend's favor. It is better to contact an attorney and get the deed drafted from him.
