just married and want to add husband to title of my home.
what do I need to do?
what do I need to do?
if you have a mortgage, you should first contact your lender to find out if they will permit this. most likely they will since he is your husband, but if you add him to title without their permission it could trigger a "due on sale" clause which may accelerate your mortgage due date and you'd have to refinance or sell to pay them off.
if the lender is ok with it, and if you do not have any real estate experience, then i suggest contacting a local title company to help you prepare the grant deed or quit claim deed (it shouldn't be expensive).

Hi,
To add your husband to the title of the home you need to sign a quitclaim deed. However, if you have any mortgage against the property then you will remain responsible for the mortgage. otherwise your husband need to re-finance the mortgage in his name. Consult with your lender and then take the necessary step.
Hope this will help you.
