i am divorced and i have a domestic violence restraining order on him. he has a current warrant out for his arrest and that is why he fled the state. the mortgage loans are still in both are names until i can consolidate the loans. i finished the trial period for the home equity loan modification. but the mortgage company only gave me three days to have the agreement notarized and sent back to them or they claimed the agreement would be null and void. i told the mortgage company months ago about my situation. i couldn't just run over to nevada, so i contacted a notary public in the town and i was extremely lucky and he was willing to sign the paperwork at the moment. since the signature page contained both our names, i made a copy of it. i notarized my part and fed ex the original agreement and a copy of the signature page for him to sign in front of the notary.
now my mortgage company said that they won't accept the agreement because i wrote "page 1", "page 2", highlighted where i needed steve's signature and we had two separate notarized papers. they have given me three days to redo the agreement or its null and void.
but now, my ex wants $1000 to sign.

Hi kathleen,
It is the lender's discretion as to whether or not they will accept the deed. I will suggest you to contact your ex-husband and redo the agreement though you have to pay him $1000. This will at least help you in getting the loan modification.
