Documents Notarized by Close Friends

Posted on: 12th Nov, 2008 11:35 pm
Douments to transfer title was notarized by close friends of the escrow officer who is currently the owner of acreage intended to be shared amongst children. Last living trustee (mother)had signed entire property over to this one child without knowledge or understanding what she was signing. What are your thoughts on documents notarized by a friend/employee for her boss who is the escrow officer? Is this allowed?
Hi noeuemura!

Can you tell me what do you mean by the "close friends"? Do these close friends have the right to notarize the documents? As far as I know, if a person is not a notary, then he/she will not be able to notarize any documents. You need to check whether the close friends are themselves escrow officers or not.

Thanks.

notaries are sworn to uphold the law. if something shady has taken place, you need to contact the state authority that licenses notaries. if your only concern is that the notary is friendly with the escrow officer, then i think you're making more noise about this than is warranted.
