Hello,
I recently lost my dad unexpectedly. The estate management has fallen upon the kids to work out.... My dad unfortunately left no will. Over the years my younger brother has helped with mortgage payments, expenses etc. I feel as though my brother should get most of my dads personal posessions and property. He has receipts to show the payments. However, we have a half brother...what are his rights to the land, home and personal posessions? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome curious,
As your father has not left a will, then your brother and you along with your half brother can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and transfer the property in your names. Your half brother will also be considered as a heir to the property and he would also have rights to your father's property. It would be better if you could contact an attorney and take his opinion in this regard.
