My mother-in-law passed away recently without a will. She owned a house and property however, her husband never had his name put on the deed. Her husband and two sons are living in the house, paying the taxes. Now he is in bad health and I need to know what to do to straighten this out.
Hi bdk!

Your mother-in-law's husband will be able to claim heirship to the property similar to your wife. Apart from them, the sons will also claim rights to the property. All off them will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in their names.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
