Hello there... I need to clarify this. If a person (who is not the owner of the property) lives in the property of a deceased person and pays mortgage for 18 years, will he own the house?
Hi Guest,
This will depend upon the state laws. However, it should be noted that only paying the mortgage is not enough for the adverse possession of the property. The person should have also paid off the property taxes and maintained it to claim it.
Thanks,
Jerry
