my mother has a life-time estate in the old home place. her brother before he died had a will drawn up giving his daughter the house -- who has ownership of the house? she had the property taxes sent to her address in another state based upon the will - who ownes this house? the deed giving my mother a life-estate is an old deed versus my uncle's will which is only 2 years old.
Hi lhadder,
Your mother has a life estate right in that property. That means she will be able to stay in the property until death but she is not the owner of the property. After her death, the life estate clause will become null and void. As far as your uncle's daughter is concerned, she will become the owner of the property after she probates the will.

Your Uncle's Daughter owns the house, and she'll receive full control of it after your Mother passes.

Just by paying propert tax no body becomes owner. lift estate guaranties that your mother can continue to stay in house till her death.
but Your Uncle's Daughter is the real & only owner of proerty.
