Transfer from deceased parents?

Posted on: 02nd Jul, 2010 07:45 am
How do I transfer my parents house to my name, they are both deceased. Can I do this myself and if so what forms will be required? They had wills & they have been probated. They left the house to me but I have a sister, does she or will she have to sign anything or can I as the executor of the wills have this done and recorded without her signature? I live in the house & have always lived with our parents & took care of them in their declining years. We live in Georgia. My sister knows about the house being left to me & doesn't want the house. She lives in another state. Your help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Hi kcanderson,

As the will mentions that the property should be transferred to you, then your sister can't claim ownership of the property. As you've completed the probate of the will, you need to file it at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in your name.

Thanks
